BIO

Kabini was born in the Solomon Islands and undertook formal schooling in the Solomon Islands, Fiji and Canada. He is a two-time Canadian Commonwealth scholar, obtaining his PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He is a Pacific Islands regional educator and mentor. He teaches, undertakes research and supervises research students at VUW. He is an active conference convenor and speaker. He is a consultant to donor agencies, Pacific Islands governments, Pacific regional/national organizations and communities in areas of leadership, governance, education and development. Kabini has alafa responsibilites for a theocratic tribal community in East Mala'ita, Solomon Islands.

◾Indigenous Pacific Intellectual Traditions (collaborations with Pacific Islands colleagues),
◾Educational leadership in Solomon Islands,
◾Writing projects with Solomon Islands students (collaborations with colleagues at the Solomon Islands National University),
◾Oralities research Oceania storying and Melanesian Tok stori. 
◾Public ethics and leadership in the Pacific (in collaboration with Professor Keith Walker, University of Saskatchewan)
◾Indigenous Mala’ita (Solomon Islands) Clan research.
