My research interests currently lie in information/data visualisation, and in 2026 I'll be focussing on how data visualisation can be used in collaborative environments as team and community tools rather than as single-user tools.

I am also interested in explainable AI, as well as how user interfaces - particularly mobile app user interfaces - can be designed to counter-act some of the negative aspects of being continually online without negating the benefits of connection and information sharing.

My MSc and PhD were in Computer Science, in the sub-field of software reuse.

I have been the primary or co-supervisor for six PhD students who have successful graduated, along with being primary or co-supervisor for eight Masters-by-thesis students who have successfully graduated.
