BIO

I joined the Sociology programme at Victoria University of Wellington in 2008, after nearly ten years at the Central European University in Budapest. For much of my academic career my research has focused on political responses to sexual and gender-based violence, including debates over sex-trafficking associated with peacekeeping operations and prostitution policies more broadly. My research has traced the political reasons for increasing international attention to sexual and gender-based violence in the 21st century and critically examined the effects of such attention, particularly in relation to social policies and feminist advocacy. More recently I have begun researching sexual violence politics and digital media.
