BIO

I have been teaching and coordinating STAT193 since we redesigned the course in 2017. I also teach the engineering mathematics courses ENGR121 and ENGR123, as well as MATH142 and STAT391.

Before moving to Victoria University of Wellington/Te Herenga Waka, I was working at the University of Canterbury and the University of Canterbury International College, as well as tutoring high school students in NCEA mathematics and statistics. The textbook that I co-wrote with David Barton, Essential Maths and Stats for Higher Education, is a recommended text for foundation maths courses in Aotearoa and the Pacific, including MATH132 here at VUW/THW.

I also worked for many years as a professional musician (French horn) in orchestras in the UK and NZ.

In 2021 I received a VUW/THW Teaching Excellence Award and in 2022 the Ako Aotearoa Te Whatu Kairangi Award.
