TEACHING INTERESTS
Ian has taught across all levels of the cybersecurity curriculum at Victoria University of Wellington, from the large first-year Cybersecurity Fundamentals course (CYBR171, 300+ students) through to advanced postgraduate courses including Cybersecurity Attack and Defence Techniques (CYBR471), Cybercrime Investigations (CYBR472), and Malware and Reverse Engineering (CYBR473). He also teaches Code Security (CYBR271), Governance, Risk and Compliance (CYBR373), and System and Network Security (CYBR371). As Programme Director for the BE(Hons) in Cybersecurity, he led the development of the cybersecurity major and an online micro-credential in Cybersecurity Essentials. Earlier in his career he helped establish the Bachelor of Engineering programme, ran foundation and bridging courses for mature learners, and taught courses in concurrent programming, network applications, and systems programming.
