Dr Kate Ingarfield is a Data Manager at Te Tātai Hauora o Hine, the National Centre for Women’s Health Research Aotearoa at Te Herenga Waka, Victoria University of Wellington. She is an epidemiologist and medical statistician with experience using routinely collected health data to investigate health outcomes, healthcare pathways and health inequities, with a focus on generating evidence to inform clinical practice and health services.

Kate has expertise in epidemiological study design and statistical analysis, including cohort studies, observational studies, longitudinal studies and clinical trials. She has experience applying a range of statistical methods, including regression modelling, survival analysis and longitudinal data analysis, alongside expertise in record linkage. Her methodological expertise spans routinely collected health data and clinical trial data, with a focus on robust study design and generating reliable evidence to address clinically and socially important research questions.

Kate holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Glasgow, where she investigated survival and outcomes among people with head and neck cancer and contributed to national clinical head and neck cancer guidelines. She has previously worked in epidemiological research and clinical trials at the Universities of Bristol and Cardiff, contributing to research that has informed clinical practice in breast cancer. She is passionate about using health data and epidemiological methods to strengthen health research, identify and address inequities, and generate evidence that contributes to better and more equitable health outcomes.
