BIO

Kim completed her training as a Registered Nurse at Wellington Polytechnic (Wellington New Zealand). Her clinical career has covered acute medical nursing across a variety of settings (mainly intensive care, cardiac care and acute medical care). In 2000 she shifted into nursing education and research. During her time as a lecturer she has contributed to the development of a Bachelor of Nursing curriculum over 2000-2017 (Massey University). In 2017 she moved to Victoria University of Wellington to teach into the Bachelor of Health at the Faculty of Health (now Faculty of Education, Health, and Psychological Sciences). Currently her roles include: Convenor for School Research committee (School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice), and advising to Master of Nursing Science students. Kim has been Deputy Director of School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Practice (2022 and 2023) and a member of the university Human Ethics Committee (2022-2024). 

Teaching is: Applied pathophysiology (HLTH502) and Research for Practice (HLTH501).
Kim's research focus is: long-term conditions, patient-centred care, ageing (nursing), ageing (sociology), nursing knowledge, science in and for nursing.

Main methodologies used:

Qualitative methodologies: Qualitaive description, narrative, interpretive description, phenomenology.

Mixed method research.

Current projects:

1) MOVETIA project collaboration with ZHAW (Zurich University of Applied Sciences)

2) Postgraduate nurses, reflections on application of science to practice

3) Allostasis: Role in nursing practice
4) Long COVID
