BIO

Kris is a registered clinical psychologist and a lecturer in the School of Psychological Sciences. He leads the Conceptual Psychopathology Lab, a group interested in exploring how people think about mental health problems. This includes the development and evaluation of theories, as well as a growing interest in how the general public conceptualise mental disorders. A major theme in Kris' research has been the development of 3e Psychopathology - a novel framework that reimagines mental disorders as unhelpful patterns in the ways that people make sense of respond to the world, within which people get stuck due to a range of mechanims spread across the brain, body, and environment. This framework is summaried in his 2023 book: Embodied, Embedded, and Enactive Psychopathology; Reimagining Mental Disorder.
