BIO

Natasha is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Architecture. Her recent research focus has been primarily on new product development with an interest in different strategies that challenge existing structures and methods.

Her iwi are Ngāti Porou and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui

In practice at Last Paddock Design, consulting in the areas of product design and development, interior, retail design and architectural products where projects have ranged from stadium seating to library design and the development of branded furniture ranges. This work had strong ties to Athfield Architects, where Nat has worked and has a long-term relationship with ongoing research and projects. Previously as the Design Director of a start-up R+D company, she worked with a specialist team to develop products for offshore markets. Also a past member of Plank Design Collective whose intent was research projects where enjoyment in creative pursuits with sustainability, ethics, and challenging thought is kept at the fore.

She has exhibited furniture in Australia, UK, Japan, Spain, and Italy. Over the years, she has won an international Red Dot Award and has gained international and national honours in numerous awards, ranging through Wearable Arts, interiors, urban furniture, architecture and product. Nat thoroughly enjoys the lively atmosphere of teaching in studio and seminar situations with strong connections to industry.
