Dr. Qurrat Ul Ain is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Victoria University of Wellington. She received her B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, and her M.S. in Computer Science from the International Islamic University, Islamabad. She completed her PhD in Computer Science from the Victoria University of Wellington and subsequently worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence before being appointed to the faculty.

Her research spans artificial intelligence, evolutionary computation, genetic programming, machine learning, and computer vision, with particular interests in feature extraction, feature construction, transfer learning, and interpretable AI. She has also been advancing the use of AI for cybersecurity applications and medical image analysis, contributing novel approaches for cancer detection using medical images. Her work has been published in leading international journals and conferences.

Dr. Qurrat Ul Ain is an active member of the global research community. She is a member of IEEE and ACM. She serves as the Chair of the IEEE Yong Professionals New Zealand Central Section. She also serves on the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, the IEEE CIS Task Force on Evolutionary Computation for Feature Selection and Construction, and the IEEE Task Force on Evolutionary Computer Vision and Image Processing. She is also a member of the Artificial Intelligence Researchers Association (AIRA) and the Evolutionary Computation Research Group (ECRG) at Victoria University of Wellington. Beyond her research, she contributes to academic service as a reviewer for top international journals and conferences, and she served as an advisory board member for the Women in AI Awards New Zealand Pacific 2023.

At Victoria, she is actively engaged in teaching and supervising across the areas of cybersecurity, programming, and artificial intelligence, while mentoring postgraduate research students in machine learning and evolutionary computation.
