I teach creative practice, through master’s supervisions, design studios, technology courses and electives. The focus of this teaching is to successively build experience in experimental, speculative design research methodologies. My second year communications course encourages students to freely experiment across multiple design media. This experimental approach is further strengthened in my fourth year course, 'House and Home'. In this course students research concepts of home through multi- media design tests. This application of creative practice research is taken further at master's level by students in my Speculative Design Research stream, run in collaboration with Jan Smitheram and Ray Foalima. Master's students explore topics that ask questions about what architecture is and how it is practiced, leveraging creative practice as a mode of knowledge discovery.
