Stephen primarily works on geometry and analysis, and their applications. This work became the basis for work in bioacoustics, which is about monitoring ecological systems via the soundscape. The AviaNZ project combines mathematics, signal processing, machine learning, and ecology and ornithology to enable everybody from community groups to researchers to monitor their local ecosystems.
