Tony Ward, MA, PhD., DipClinPsyc is a professor of clinical and forensic psychology at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and has previously taught clinical and forensic psychology at Deakin, Canterbury, and Melbourne universities.  Dr Ward has published over 490 chapters, articles, books, and other scholarly works in the areas of male sexual offending and general rehabilitation and practice and is the creator of the good lives model. His research interests include  correctional rehabilitation, the explanation of crime related problems, and meta theoretical issues in clinical and forensic psychology. Dr. Ward is the lead author of several books including The Good Lives Model of correctional rehabilitation (Springer, 2025), Theories of sexual offending (Wiley, 2006), and Rehabilitation: Beyond the Risk Paradigm (Routledge, 2007). He has approximately 45,000 scholarly citations and has an H-Index of 112 (Google scholar). Dr Ward is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, and won the 2021 Mason Durie Medal for excellence in research in social science. He holds adjunct professional positions at the Universities of Kent, Swinburne, and Birmingham.
