BIO

Dr. Vicki Hargraves is a Teaching Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington and provides professional development to teachers across Aotearoa New Zealand with The Education Hub. Her PhD drew on new materialist and posthumanist perspectives and postqualitative methodologies to understand education as a deeply materialist practice, emphasising possibilities for multiple ways of knowing and being in early childhood education that disrupt habitual thought and practice. She is the author of Children and the ethics of creativity: Rhythmic affectensities in early childhood education, a series of innovative thought experiments and analyses for imagining the potential for complex and responsive curriculum-making provided within the multiple interactions of human and non-human actors in the early childhood setting. Her research interests include using philosophy to explore relational pedagogy, ethics, and complexity in early childhood education, with particular attention to issues of social justice and participation for diverse children and communities.
