BIO

Yayu Zheng is a film scholar and producer specializing in Sinophone and Asian cinemas, as well as global queer cinema.

Her dissertation-turned-monograph, The Popularizing and Politicizing of Queer Media Images in Taiwan: 1997 to the Present, is forthcoming from Routledge. The book examines the production, exhibition, and circulation of Taiwanese queer films from the late 1990s to the present day, a time during which Taiwanese society was becoming more gender equal and LGBTQ-friendly.

As a film producer, she has produced short films including Foliage, Safe Dose, and Abdullah, all of which have been selected for and screened at numerous international film festivals worldwide.
